Police Say Lock Your Vehicle

There was an increase in the number of stolen vehicles in our area last year, according to Bancroft OPP. The reported thefts included cars, trucks and ATV’s, many with their keys left in them. Police say that a car can be stolen in less than 30 seconds and an unlocked vehicle or one with an open window is an easy target. Protect your car and everything inside with a few precautions:
• Never leave your keys anywhere in your vehicle.
• Always roll up your windows and lock the doors, even at your residence.
• Never leave valuables such as wallets or electronics in your vehicle.
• If you have a garage, use it and lock your vehicle and the garage door.
• Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.
