Consistent Rain will not be Coming Down in Bancroft Anytime Soon

With the fire ban still on in Bancroft and the rest of North Hastings, the rain coming to put an end to it isn’t coming anytime soon.

There has been rain since the fire ban was put in place on July 10th, but it’s been inconsistent. Gerald Cheng, a Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says that we’re experiencing typical Summer weather.

Cheng added over the next few days there is still the chance of rain, despite the high humidity. He says that humidity is necessary for thunderstorms to develop. As we head into the weekend, Cheng says, that’s when more consistent rain is forecasted. However, Saturday and Sunday look to be very dry days.

Cheng says that even though we have had days where it’s rained for long periods, that isn’t enough.

He adds that it’s difficult in the Summer to guarantee long periods of rain.
