Regulations limiting open fires kick-in today. A town by-law in Bancroft states that no person shall ignite an open fire, other than a small fire for cooking or warmth, from two hours after sunrise until two hours before sunset during the period from April 1 to October 31, which is the Fire Season. Day Burning is allowed under defined conditions through the issuing of a Day Burning Fire Permit which is available during regular hours at the Bancroft Municipal Office. Similar restrictions on open fires are in effect across Haliburton and other neighboring townships. You can find more information on your municipality’s website.
