Opeongo Line closed, businesses without water while watermain is replaced

A portion of Opeongo Line in Barry’s Bay is closed while crews work to replace a watermain that broke over the weekend.

The Township of Madawaska Valley says the road is closed between Bay Street and Dunn Street, meaning the following businesses will be without water for the rest of the week: Bank of Montreal, Canada Post, Lorraine’s Pharmasave, Burke and Son Jewelers, Cat Nap and Lazy Dog Pet Outfitters, Stedmans Department Store and Talk of the Town.

Bathrooms can be used at the South of 60 Arts Centre or at the municipal office.  A portable toilet is also being set up in the pharmacy parking lot.  Businesses will be open, while that stretch of the road will remain closed until further notice.
