Teenager charged with impaired driving

A 19-year-old from Coe Hill has been charged with impaired driving.

The Coe Hill resident was charged after the Bancroft OPP responded to a call of a vehicle rolling over on Highway 620 in Wollaston Township.

Officers from the local detachment arrived at the scene shortly after 3 AM on August 2nd. Officers concluded that the vehicle drove off the road, then came back on, before rolling over. The teenager behind the wheel was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The accused was placed under arrest at the hospital.

The driver has been charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero, and drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

The person’s license has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven has been impounded for seven days.

A court appearance for the driver is scheduled for August 25th in Bancroft.
