Bancroft’s Relay for Life happened in Millennium Park June 12 and 13, raising $89,302.19 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
There were 63 survivors that did the victory walk with their caregivers. Participants joined in an angel walk before a luminary ceremony in honour of those lost to cancer. There were events throughout the night, including pony rides and simulated horses.
Audrey Mackey, co-chair of the local Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, says the number of teams and the amount of money raised this year match that of last year.
She says the committee is working on next year’s theme. Relay for Life 2016 will take place on June 10 and 11 in Bancroft. For more information on how you can help, click here.
