Bancroft’s mayor and councillors have been sworn in, to mark the start of the new term.
Mayor Paul Jenkins, and the six councillors, read the oath of office, at a ceremony at the Bancroft town office on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
In a speech, Jenkins said the council should look to complete “unfinished businesses” of the last term. That means continuing to work on initiatives listed in the the Making Our Future report, such as projects related to housing.
He also encouraged the public to get involved in civic matters.
“We will endeavour to get our messaging out to the public and invite constructive input and new ideas to move the town forward in a positive direction,” he said. “In return, we ask our residents to take an interest, ask the questions, get the facts. You owe it to yourself and your community.”
The meeting was just ceremonial. The first council meeting for normal business is scheduled for Dec. 13th at 3 p.m.
