Although COVID-19 vaccination policies are being revoked at some long-term care homes in Ontario, they remain in place at Bancroft’s Hastings Centennial Manor.
Hastings County’s Director of Long Term Care Erin Chapman said the policy which says staff must be vaccinated is still in place. Volunteers and other workers who enter the home must also be vaccinated.
Chapman says revoking the policy would be a decision for the county’s long-term care committee, but it has not discussed the issue yet.
Further north, the Valley Manor in Barry’s Bay revoked its vaccine policy last Friday.
Its CEO, Trisha DesLaurier says the decision was made, based on new recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. She said, while the pandemic is not over, the chance of severe COVID outcomes have been reduced, due to vaccines, community immunity and new therapies.
