Nature Discovery Backpacks at HH Library helps kids learn about water

Families will soon be able to borrow, not just books, but backpacks and park passes too at the Hastings Highlands Public Library.

They’re to help kids learn about water.

The library is partnering with the Lake St. Peter Property Owners’ Association and Watersheds Canada for the program.

Fifteen backpacks will be available, and they’ll be unveiled at a launch event at the library on Wednesday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They’ll contain leaning activities for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8, and equipment such as a water testing kit, a dip net and binoculars.

The library will also have three Ontario Parks Passes for library users to borrow as part of the program. This way, a family can borrow a backpack and use it for an educational outing. The passes are valid at any Ontario Provincial Park.
