Ontario Parks has a new sign up at the Bonnechere River and Round Lake boat launch.
They are asking people to make sure that they have cleaned, drained, and dried their boats before launching to prevent transferring invasive species into lakes and rivers.
Invasive species like zebra mussels, spiny waterflea, and eurasian watermilfoil can severely disrupt native ecosystems if introduced.
Tips to help prevent the spread of invasive species include: clean any plants, mud, mussels or debris from your boat, trailer, and equipment.
Drain all standing water from your bilge, motor, and livewell.
Dry your boat and gear completely between trips or disinfect it with hot or pressurized water.
