Still no school buses in Barry’s Bay

Talks continue between school bus companies, Renfrew School boards and the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC).

A press release Tuesday from the RCJTC stated they we’re committed to ensuring that the voices of families and students were heard and valued, and that everyone “understands the great stress the current lack of bussing and negotiation standstill is causing.”

This comes after a meeting Monday between the RCJTC and representatives from CF Vaudry Bus Lines, Holly Bus Lines, Musclow Bus Lines, Renfrew County Bus Lines, Skelhorn Bus Lines, Switzer-Carty, and Valley Transportation was constructive and informative.

The directors of education of the Renfrew County District School Board and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board were present to share the perspectives of students, families, and both school boards, and to hear the perspectives of each bus company.

The release went on to note that the consortium recognizes the challenging circumstances the situation presents for the entire community, and “deeply appreciates their continued patience and cooperation.”

Discussions will continue, with another meeting scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30.
