Tall Pines and local landowner give back: How cars rallied for food in North Hastings

Bruce Leonard Coordinator for Rally of The Tall Pines, along with sponsorship coordinator Ian Wright,  stopped by The North Hastings Community Cupboard Foodbank last week to give back to the community after a successful rally year.

“So, Tall Pines donated $1,000 from our parking proceeds to the community, on behalf of the landowner whose land we were able to use, David Waters. And we’re very pleased to be able to do this. To give something back to the town,  in one of the places that probably needs it the most.”

Foodbank representative Joe Pearson says the donation is needed more than ever.

“We’re still getting new people signing up monthly. So our numbers are continuing to climb. We wouldn’t be able to do this without people like this donating. So we really appreciate it. “

Ian Wright added that the increase in people relying on foodbanks is widespread,

“I work with a local food bank close to where I live and the numbers have just increased exponentially and it’s a struggle to keep up. And without donations and without companies providing food for the food bank, they will struggle mightily.”
