5K dollars in copper wire stolen from South Frontenac telephone poles

Frontenac OPP are looking into the theft of copper wire reported on Jan. 15.

Police say that one or more people used equipment to scale a telephone pole and cut the copper wiring at a location on Firehall Road in South Frontenac Township, south of Highway 7.

The telecommunication company pinpointed a time of 3:49 a.m. when the system stopped functioning.

The wire between two telephone poles was completely removed.

The estimated cost of the wire from this theft is $5,000.

OPP say several area residents were without telephone services for some of that day.
