“It’s been a blast” local author discusses new book ahead of event at Bancroft library

Local author Donna Reid will be at the Bancroft Library this Saturday to talk about her new book “Fiddle is missing”.

While the story is aimed at young readers,  ‘in the 8-years-old and up range’, Reid says it has appeal for all ages.

The book follows the story of a grandmother and young firefly named Fiddle who goes missing.

“It’s fairly short, so it’s great for first readers… but it’s also a really great book for parents and grandparents to read to children.”

The book was published in December, though Reid says she wrote it a few years ago.

“I came from Bancroft, but I’ve been gone for many, many years. And then I returned here and I was talking with a friend about three years ago I think, and I mentioned that I’ve written a book, and it was on the shelf and she recommended that I send it to Cameron Montgomery at Studio Dreamshare in Pembroke. And so it’s been a bit of a blast working with them and getting it published.”

The North Hastings Library is inviting everyone out to Reid’s Author Talk this Saturday to hear more about Fiddle’s story, a tale of ‘family, friendship and finding your way, even when the path is dark.”

The author talk will start at 1 p.m.
