Hastings Highlands Mayor Fitzgerald elected Deputy Warden of Hastings County

Hastings Highlands Mayor Tony Fitzgerald has been elected as deputy warden of Hastings County Council for 2025 and 2026.

Fitzgerald will support the warden in fulfilling his responsibilities as the head of Hastings County Council, as well as continuing to fulfill his regular duties as a county council member and chair of the finance, property and personnel committee.

According to the county, the deputy warden performs the duties of head of council, ‘supporting the advocacy efforts of the warden, and carrying out additional functions in their role.’

“I would like to thank my county council colleagues for placing their confidence in me by electing me to the position of deputy warden,” stated Fitzgerald. “I don’t take this position lightly and I will work with Warden Mullin to serve our residents and communities and continue to uphold the values of Hastings County with integrity.”

In a news release, Hastings County thanked Bancroft Mayor Paul Jenkins for his dedicated service as deputy warden in 2023 and 2024.

The position of Deputy Warden was established in 2021.
