Birds, bogs and moose: Learn about them all in Algonquin Park this weekend

A Guided ‘Birds and Bogs’ walk is taking place Saturday at the Spruce Bog Trail in Algonquin Park.

Participants can discover the birds that inhabit what the park calls one of the “most unique examples of a Spruce Bog in Algonquin Park”.

Binoculars are provided. The walk lasts about 90 minutes and people should park and meet at the Spruce Bog Boardwalk at 10 a.m.

In the afternoon, Kevin from Algonquin Park will give a talk at noon on how moose survive throughout the challenges of each season, noting “the Algonquin landscape isn’t an easy place to survive, even for it’s largest animal.”

On Sunday, Amanda will give a talk at noon about the “secrets behind the park’s wildlife” discussing how more than 70 years of scientific research has helped uncover Algonquin Park’s “national natural treasures”.

The afternoon programs last about an hour. You can find out more at the Algonquin Park Visitor Centre or here.
