Bancroft’s entry in the first stage of Kraft Hockeyville is going well according to local coordinator Meredith Card.
The top four placing towns in the contest’s first stage will move onto the next round in the Hockeyville competition, which awards the winning town $250,000 in arena upgrades and the chance to host a pre-season NHL game.
According to Card, we are still about 20 stories behind where the top four towns are right now.
She says its easy to take part by going to the Kraft Hockeyville website.
“So you go to ‘sign in’, you sign in with just your e-mail and then from there you can submit a story, which is 10 points. You can upload 5 pictures which are three points each.
You can leave a note, just one note per person, which is one point. And then if you wanted to, you can go and react which is just a like button. To all the stories and all the pictures.”
Card says even for those who aren’t comfortable leaving a story or uploading photos, ‘reacting can still make a big difference.
“If we had hundreds of people go in and like our pictures and our stories that are already there, our points would skyrocket.
Card went on to say that if people don’t know where to start help is available.
“So through either the North Hastings Community Center Kraft Hockeyville site, you can message it and I’ve got about I think 15 people that are willing to just take some time out of their day to help people navigate how to get on to the site. There was also a video that we posted there that Kraft Hockeyville did and it shows you exactly how to sign in.
For those who don’t have internet the Bancroft and Maynooth Library’s have computers where people can submit their stories.
The deadline is March 1.
