Hydro electric info session for the area postponed due to weather forecast

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is letting the public know that their information session, which was scheduled for Feb.12 at the Barry’s Bay Legion is postponed due to tomorrow evening’s forecasted snowstorm.

OPG representative Jennifer Gardiner says they will work on rescheduling the in-person meet, in the meantime she says everyone is welcome to check out the virtual meet next week.

Gardiner says OPG holds information sessions yearly to discuss local power, water levels and answer any questions.

“Folks come in and we talk about our hydroelectric operations along the Madawaska River.  They learn about Bark Lake, Kaminiskeg and the other hydroelectric facilities downriver so people can ask questions about how water moves down through the system. We spend quite a bit of time talking about spring melt.”

Residents and cottagers along the Madawaska and surrounding area interested in learning more can check out the virtual meet Feb 19.

Visit opg.com/eastern to register.

OPG says that they apologize for the inconvenience of rescheduling and ask that everyone please stay safe.
