One man found deceased after utility terrain vehicle goes through the ice on Round Lake 

An 80-year-old man from Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township has tragically died after the Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) he was driving broke through the ice and sank in Round Lake.  

Around 1:15 p.m. Monday afternoon, the individual was reported to police as being overdue after going out on his UTV that morning.   

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP and Renfrew County Paramedics responded and found UTV tracks leading to an opening in the ice.  

The OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) were engaged and at approximately 6:00 p.m. the mans body was recovered from Round Lake.   

The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.   

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death which is believed to be drowning. Foul play is not suspected.
