Community Justice Fund applications open for one more week

There is one more week left to apply for support from The Community Justice Fund (CJF).

Every year the CJF takes whatever money they have received from the Justice system and makes it available to community groups.

Projects or organizations must meet the justice funds mandate: To help victims of crime or help prevent crime in the area.

This year there will be $8,500 available. Melanie Lord from the Justice Fund says a committee is formed to disperse the funds.

“We don’t ourselves decide who gets the money. We make a selection committee out of individuals in the community who then look at however number of applications we get. They would then decide how the funds get divvied up.”

The groups must fill out an application form and submit it and other relevant material.

The applications are then reviewed by the independent subcommittee and a decision is made as to who receives what.

To receive information and the application form, interested people should email [email protected]

The deadline is May 16.
