Central Hastings OPP is continuing to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 37 just north of Belleville.
The highway was closed between Denyes Road and Hoskin Road following the collision between a pickup truck and a car that happened just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to OPP, two southbound vehicles were attempting to overtake another southbound vehicle. The passing vehicles made contact, and both drivers lost control of their vehicles. The car left the road and entered the ditch.
The driver of the car was rushed by Hastings-Quinte EMS to a local hospital, where the 85-year-old woman from Quinte West was pronounced deceased.
Central Hastings OPP continues to investigate the collision, in conjunction with OPP Collision Reconstructionists and other members of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team.
