Everyone encouraged to take part in inaugural ‘Walk a Mile’ event in Bancroft tomorrow

Maggie’s Resource Centre, along with Bancroft OPP, is getting ready for the first Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event in the community.

The one-mile awareness walk is the first in what organizers hope will become an annual tradition.

The event aims to raise both awareness and vital funds in support of survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).

Participants from all corners of the community — including other first responders, local businesses, and individuals — have stepped up to show their support.

Organizers say the response reinforces the importance of coming together as a community to stand against violence.

“We are proud to stand with Maggie’s and support those experiencing gender-based violence,” said OPP Sergeant Trevor Pitts. “No one should have to go through this alone.”

Maggie’s Resource Centre continues to provide critical services to individuals experiencing IPV in the Bancroft area, and events like Walk a Mile play a key role in those efforts.

Organizers are encouraging everyone in the community to come out and take part in tomorrow’s walk, whether by joining the event, donating, or cheering from the sidelines.

The walk begins at 10 a.m. at the parking lot across from the TD Bank and will end at Millenium Park with live music and celebration.
