Major drug operation shut down in Pembroke, OPP say more arrests to come

OPP say a lengthy drug trafficking investigation in Pembroke has led to 23 arrests and the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs, cash, and firearms, with more arrests expected in the coming days.

The OPP executed search warrants at two homes on Martin Street and Pembroke Street West on May 22 and June 4. The raids followed a five-month investigation led by the OPP’s East Region Community Street Crime Unit, in collaboration with several specialized teams.

Investigators say they seized more than 400 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with sizeable quantities of other drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth and hydromorphone (morphine) tablets.

Police also recovered a loaded handgun with an extended magazine, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, and a replica firearm. A 2023 SUV, valued at over $55,000, and more than $13,000 in cash were seized as proceeds of crime.

OPPs said multiple cellphones and equipment commonly used in drug distribution were also collected as evidence.

The operation involved support from numerous OPP divisions, including emergency response teams, canine units, asset forfeiture specialists, and officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment.

OPP say more arrests and charges are expected.
