Residents heading out for an evening stroll will notice a brighter, safer experience along the Hastings Heritage Trail and surrounding pathways, thanks to a series of upgrades led by Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini (KMM).
Over the past 18 months, the organization has installed 35 solar-powered lights along key segments of the trail system, including the Wàwàtesì section, Shawashkong Bridge, Millennium Park, Churchill/Sparrow Park and Eagles Nest.
The initiative also saw the addition of 15 wayfinding signs and 10 benches, aimed at making the area more accessible and inviting for both locals and visitors.
The upgrades were made possible through collaboration with local artist Sherry Crawford, the Town of Bancroft, technical and funding partners, and support from the wider community.
The new infrastructure underscores KMM’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and cultural recognition.
