Bancroft OPP Marine Unit finds impaired driver on Mephisto Lake

A 23-year-old was charged with operation while impaired after Bancroft OPP’s Marine Unit conducted patrols Saturday on Mephisto Lake.

OPP stopped the driver of the boat at 7 p.m. to conduct a safety inspection.

An approved screening device was used, and the driver, an Osgoode, Ont. resident, was transported to the detachment for further testing.

The driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days, and they are scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft in August.

OPP remind those boating on the lakes this summer that impaired operation is a criminal offense and that includes when operating a vessel on the water.
