Bancroft Community Transit Expands to New Area

Bancroft Community Transit aren’t just helping residents in Bancroft get around.

That’s because they’ve expanded their services to include Wilberforce as a destination they take people to. BCT has added a $16 round trip to and from Wilberforce to Bancroft. Wilberforce won’t be the only stop though as there will be multiple stops throughout Highlands East, says Gwen Coish, Director of Operations for Bancroft Community Transit.

“It’s a logical next step,” Coish says in regards to the public transit partnership that BCT has with Hastings Highlands and Highlands East. “It was something that was identified as a need some time ago,” she continued.

Coish says a trial run was done to decide what days are best for the shuttle. The round trips will be done on the first and third Friday of every month. There will also be $5 unlimited local trips on the second and fourth Friday of every month. In a press release, they use the examples of getting a ride to the grocery store, pharmacy or a restaurant as what the local rides could be used for.

BCT says that they will be doing a Christmas Shopping Trip to Peterborough as well.
