Federal Candidate to be Chosen by Conservatives in Hastings-Lennox and Addington

The Conservatives are getting closer to deciding who will run in the next Federal election.

Potential candidates have until today at 5 PM to submit their nomination to run as a Conservative candidate in the 2019 federal election.

Speaking to My Bancroft Now, Eric Lorenzen, the President of the Hastings-Lennox and Addington Conservative Association, says that the applicants are currently being vetted by the national party and interviewed. After going through that, Lorenzen says they will become candidates.

So far, Belleville councillor Jackie Denyes and Mark Hanley, Hasting County’s Small Business Coordinator, have publicly announced their intention to run as candidates in 2019. Lorenzen said the Association is not authorized to release the names of the potential candidates at this time. He added that they can only release them after the vetting process is complete.

The nomination meeting will take place on December 8th at Tweed Elementary School in Tweed.

Hastings-Lennox and Addington was established as a federal electoral district in 2013 and later won by Liberal Mike Bossio in the 2015 federal election.

The federal election is planned for October 2019.
