Nellie Lunn Park will be sold, according to Wollaston Township.
In a release, the majority of the council believes the sale is best for the municipality. They add the decision was not made without considerable discussion and thought.
Discussions around the sale of the park began in June of last year. The Township says that they engaged several times with the group Friends of Nellie Lunn Park, and heard testimony from them and Hastings Destinations Trails. The decision to put the land up for sale was done after receiving legal advice.
According to a resolution by Council, the land will be sold by public tender, and all offers will be placed before council for consideration. The resolution notes the highest or lowest bid may not necessarily be accepted and that preference may be given to landowners next to the area. The land has been declared as vacant land and zoned as open space.
