The Bancroft community could come alive again with the sound of concert band musicĀ
Retired music teacher Fred Henderson is trying to round up musicians for the return of the North Hastings Community Band.Ā Heās looking for more players of wind, brass and percussion instruments.Ā
This band was just starting up when the pandemic hit and had to go silent. Henderson says working together as part of a concert band is a thrilling experience.
āOne day when youāre playing and it all comes together. It is such a feeling that you are part of that and you helped put that piece together,” he says. “I know that after practices, people usually go home and they think, āWow, that was fun.āā
While talented musicians are needed, the band is ultimately to provide a fun experience for those who love music, Henderson says. The band will rehearse songs that will hopefully lead to shows in the spring.Ā
āItās social in the way that youāre together with other like-minded people, who love music, who love their instruments. Musicians tend to get along, because they have common interests.ā
The band intends on rehearsing every Monday night at North Hastings High School, starting Jan. 16.
