Meet others, enjoy conversation and laughs at Coffee and Companions

Twice a month, Coffee and Companions is helping people meet new friends and share experiences.

Hospice North Hastings is host of the grief and bereavement support group.

Darlene Smith-Harrison, Grief and Bereavement Services Coordinator, told MyBancroftNow the hospice started the group to bring people together who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Smith-Harrison adds that the group can be beneficial for anyone experiencing grief or anticipatory grief, living alone, feeling isolated, and interested in connecting with others and staying informed about community events.

Group members exchange information about local events and activities. Sometimes participants choose to attend the events together, other times the focus is on sharing practical tips and support for living independently.

Smith-Harrison said folks tell her they appreciate being able to go out, meet others and enjoy conversation and laughs.

Participants meet at the Corner Cafe at 1 Manor Lane in Bancroft on the first and third Thursday of the month, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Smith-Harrison says they continue to welcome new members. Registration is not required.
