Focused patrols in Central Hastings and nearby counties part of analyzing traffic trends

Central Hastings OPP are coordinating with Quinte West OPP, Belleville Police Service, Prince Edward County OPP and the provincial police service’s highway safety division to combat impaired driving.

Police said they are conducting focused patrols in certain areas of the region.

The first week of the initiative yielded four arrests and five three-day suspensions to people who registered a warning on the screening device.

Police said part of conducting focused patrols is analyzing crime and traffic trends in municipalities to help determine where and when resources should be deployed.

The initiative is continuing until Nov. 2.
