Ontario government to boost funding for municipal partnership fund

The Ontario government has announced that it is boosting funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund by $50 million.

The total funding for 2026 is $600 million, which will be distributed amongst 388 small, northern and rural municipalities with limited property tax bases.

The Town of Bancroft is included in the municipalities receiving funding.

In 2025, the town got $1,657,900, and in 2026 they’ll be getting $1,840,100, a difference of $182,200.

Faraday, Wollaston, Limerick, Tudor & Cashel, Hastings Highlands and Highlands East will also see a similar boost in their funding amounts. Carlow-Mayo will only see a $31,600 increase in their funding.

Overall, those townships and municipalities will see an average increase of about $141,888 in their funding in 2026.

The provincial government says the fund is targeted towards services like public transit, libraries, emergency services and road maintenance.
