Freezing rain storm expected in eastern Ontario late this week

Though the weather may be mild to start this week, much of the province is expected to see rain and freezing rain heading into Easter long weekend.

Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson said a storm is expected late Thursday into Friday.

“This is a major storm system, and in terms of the area impacted, we’re looking at pretty much most of the province of Ontario coming under the influence of this storm system in one way or another,” he said.

Coulson said eastern Ontario is likely to see snow, freezing rain, then rain, while northeastern Ontario could see prolonged freezing rain or snow.
