NH Community Fish Hatchery receives donation from local school

The North Hastings Community Fish Hatchery recently received a sizeable donation to their fundraising campaign for their new well.

Fish hatchery volunteer Ian Hendry said the Madoc Township Public School recently fundraised and donated $5,000 to the campaign.

Hendry said the fish hatchery is raising funds to replace one of the five wells they need to keep them stocked with water.

He said the fish hatchery has been stocking local lakes with lake trout and speckled trout for 19 years.

“It does a lot of things, it provides more opportunities for anglers in the area, which helps out with economic development,” he said.

The hatchery is working towards a $30,000 goal for the well campaign, and information on how to donate is available on their website.
