Hot, sticky and not wanting to venture too far from the air conditioning.
That’s how many of us are feeling with the temperature continuing to soar and a Heat Warning in place from Environment Canada.
The weather agency says Tuesday will mark the peak of the heat with maximum temperatures expected to hit near 37 degrees Celsius in some areas.
With the humidex factored in, it will feel close to 42 degrees Celsius.
You’re reminded to take action to protect yourself and others with extreme heat affect everyone’s health.
Public Health says hot humid air can deteriorate air quality. Heat-related risks are greatest for older adults; infants and young children and people with chronic illnesses, including breathing difficulties, heart conditions, or people who work in the heat.
Combat the conditions by making sure you drink plenty of cold liquids, reschedule or plan outdoor activities during cooler parts of the day and take cool showers or baths.
You are also advised to never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
Check on older adults, those living alone and other at-risk people in-person or on the phone multiple times a day.
