Tributes pour in after the passing of Carlo-Mayo Mayor Randy Wallace

Carlo/Mayo Township Mayor Randy Wallace is being remembered as a leader with a deep commitment to the residents he served.

Hastings County released a statement on Monday, saying Wallace served his community with dedication and care and was a valued member of county council.

Details of his death have not yet been released.

County Warden Bob Mullin described Wallace as a quiet and supportive leader who served with compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility.

“He cared deeply about his community and brought a steady, thoughtful presence to every discussion at county council. His kindness and commitment to public service will be remembered with great respect.”

Bancroft mayor Paul Jenkins said the town is deeply saddened to learn of Wallace’s passing.

“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”

In reflecting on Wallace’s dedication to the community, Jenkins said he was a good guy who took a great interest not only in his own municipality but also the wellbeing of the entire region.

“His leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the community will be profoundly missed.”

The Municipality of Hastings Highlands extended its condolences in a statement.

“Randy cared about his community and was kind-hearted,” said Hastings Highlands Mayor Tony Fitzgerald.

“His passing is a loss for Carlow/Mayo and for Hastings County. We join our municipal colleagues across the county in recognizing Randy’s service and extend our condolences to his family, council, staff, and community,”

Flags at the Hastings Highlands municipal office have been lowered to half-mast in his honour.

Wallace was elected in the 2022 municipal election, defeating incumbent Bonnie Adams with nearly 60 per cent of the vote.
