The Rockhound Jemboree continues today through Sunday with more than 100 vendors scheduled to attend.
The 61st annual jemboree at the Bancroft Curling Club and North Hastings Community Centre offers a plethora of things to do, including learning to pan for gold at the prospectors tent, mineral and gem identification and exploring the Canadian Museum of Nature’s mineral specimens.
The largest gem and mineral show in the country also includes a speaker series, featuring dinosoar detective Tim Jeffries, scheduled to speak Thursday through Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. Karen Fox will chat about quartz on Saturday morning and John Etches will discuss the geology of Ontario’s canoe routes on Sunday morning.
The Rockhound Jemboree has welcomed thousands to Bancroft and Hastings County for decades to celebrate the geological heritage of the region.
