Town of Bancroft thanks couple for donation

The Town of Bancroft has recognized Frank and Wendy Melanson for their generosity and contribution to community.

A social media post says the Melansons’ support helped make it possible for the town to acquire and preserve Bancroft’s historic train station, now home to the municipal offices and the Bancroft Gem and Mineral Museum.

The town says in its post that the transition also enabled Bancroft Community Transit to move into the town’s former facility, providing much-needed space for its vehicles, operations and staff.

The town said a commemorative plaque will be displayed at town hall as a “lasting expression of council’s appreciation and to recognize the role the contribution played in preserving an important part of Bancroft’s heritage for generations to come.”
