Hastings 4-H secretary Jesseca Carlisle receives volunteer award

Jesseca Carlisle is a recipient of a 4-H Ontario outstanding new volunteer award.

The awards, announced for six regions, are given to recipients embodying the commitment, passion, and leadership that define the 4-H volunteer community, according to the youth development organization.

Carlisle serves as the Hastings 4-H Association secretary and is co-chair of the milk booth committee overseeing the association’s largest fundraiser.

A fellow volunteer said Carlisle takes the time to get to know youth, helping match them with tasks that suit their abilities and comfort levels while encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone and try something new.

She leads several 4-H projects and is known for creating a welcoming environment to ensure everyone feels valued and encouraged to participate.

The awards celebrate volunteers who have been with 4-H for less than five years and embody the 4-H pledge in their work with local youth.
