Water and waste water bills in the town of Bancroft could be going up by 53 per cent on January 1st.
Mayor Bernice Jenkins says the increase to both systems is to recover lost money. The town’s total deficit for both systems will be in the $2-million range at the end of the year.
Recently, the town announced that about 40 per cent of the town’s water, and 60 per cent of waste water, is not being billed to residents.
A public information session is being held on the subject at 7:00pm on December 14th, at Club 580.
