A Loyalist College media student has received a national award for her work in the Photojournalism program.
Second-year student Annie Sakkab took home three awards, including the Student Photographer of the Year award in the National Pictures of the Year competition. The competition is hosted by the News Photographers Association of Canada. Close to 1,900 photographs were submitted and the winners were announced at a Gala in Vancouver May 9.
Other students in the program also were awarded for their collaborative multimedia project.
College president Maureen Piercy says the program, which is the only multi-year one across the country in this field, prepares graduates for a variety of careers in the industry.
