Bancroft man facing charges after R.I.D.E. checkpoint stop

A man is facing charges after police found him with an open bottle of alcohol during a R.I.D.E. checkpoint.

It happened on Madawaska Road in Hastings Highlands.

The driver was asked to provide a breath sample to police, in which he blew a warn reading, though he was still under the legal limit. As a result, the man’s driver’s license was suspended for three days.

Police say the 58-year-old man had also been driving his vehicle without insurance.

He is now facing charges of operating a motor vehicle without insurance, using a plate not authorized to vehicle, and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor. He is set to appear in a Bancroft court in December.
