Bancroft Taxi Back on the Road

Bancroft Taxi will continue to operate in the Town of Bancroft. Bancroft Town Council sat in a Tribunal on Tuesday May 13th to hear the appeal of Bancroft Taxi against their Taxi Licences being revoked. The Tribunal first heard the evidence of Hazel Lambe, the CAO and Clerk of the Town who made the decision to cancel Bancroft Taxi’s Owners and Drivers Licences. The Tribunal also heard from Chief Building Official and By-Law Enforcement Officer Dale Shannick on an issue he had with Bancroft Taxi. John Ross of Bancroft Taxi, with the assistance of his lawyer, Mr. Watson, made his presentation next.

After weighing all the evidence, the Tribunal, set aside the decision of CAO Lambe and substituted its own decision: Bancroft Taxi’s Taxi Owners Licence is not to be revoked and remains valid; Barbara Ross and Eric Lavoy’s Taxi Driver’s Licences are not to be revoked and will remain valid. John Ross’ Taxi Driver’s Licence is suspended for one week effective 12:01 a.m. Wednesday May 14th until 12:01 a.m. Wednesday May 21st, 2014. During that time Mr. Ross is not permitted to operate a taxi within the geographical boundaries of the Town of Bancroft. The decision of the Tribunal was unanimous.
