Minimum Wages up as of June 1st

The minimum wage in Ontario has now increased to $11 per hour, up 75 cents. The increase still leaves full-time minimum wage earners more than 16% below the poverty line. Not all minimum wage workers have received the 75 cent per hour increase; however, some will receive less. Students under the age of 18 will receive only 70 cents more per hour, going from $9.60 to $10.30. Liquor servers received only 65 cents more, increasing from $8.90 to $9.55, while Farmworkers are excluded from all minimum wage provisions.
