Quinte Health Care has approved it budget for this fiscal year.
The Belleville Intelligencer reports QHC, which operates North Hastings Hospital, is expecting a balanced budget of about $182-million. QHC is also predicting a $1-million year-end surplus, and has no plans to lay-off any employees.
But being able to take in an increased number of older and sicker patients is a concern. QHC says it will invest over $2-million in the coming years to cope with capacity issues in all four of its hospitals.
