A local Advanced Care Paramedic has been awarded by the province for an act of bravery.
Dominic Rehayem with the Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services has received the Ontario Award for Paramedic Bravery, for an exceptional act of courage in the face of danger.
The province says Rehayem crossed a river in April, 2015, to help an ATV rider who had fallen in and developed hypothermia.
Rehayem then carried the patient on his back across the river, and started a fire to keep him warm.
