House fire on Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation leaves one man dead

A 78-year-old man is dead after a house fire on the Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation near Golden Lake.

The fire broke out early Sunday morning. Killaloe OPP says Darwin Bernard was in the home at the time, and was brought to hospital with life-threatening injuries before passing away.

The Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation Fire Department was able to put out the flames.

Although the fire has been deemed non-suspicious, police continue to investigate.
