Local school board approves changes to Madoc schools

Changes are coming to schools in Madoc in September.

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has decided to send grade seven and eight students from Madoc Public School to Madoc Township Public School.

The board will also look into consolidating Madoc’s two elementary schools and its high school into a single Kindergarten through Grade 12 school. This would need consultations with the municipality, and Ministry of Education approval.

If that plan does not pan out, the board will consider consolidating Centre Hastings Secondary School and Madoc Public School into one building.

This was one of the decisions made as part of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board’s accommodation review process.
