Local museum opens new way for you to explore your history

The Bancroft North Hastings Heritage Museum has opened a new genealogy centre.

Councillor Mary Kavanagh says this will help North Hastings residents explore their family’s history, and their heritage.

The genealogy centre was made possible with the help of a $3,000 Community Futures Development Corporation Grant, which the museum had to match.

Kavanagh also says the museum has opened a new exhibit which focuses on the history of the local Algonquin community. She says this is an important exhibit as traditional Algonquin lands were found in the Bancroft area.
