The Bancroft area is under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Environment Canada says there is the potential for severe thunderstorms to develop this afternoon through to the evening. This could produce torrential rain, along with damaging wind and hail.
Environment Canada says heavy downpours can cause flash floods and pooling on roads, and that severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles, and cause serious injuries, while strong winds can damage buildings, down trees, and blow large vehicles off the road.
